Phu Quoc wasn’t on our plan at first, but I’m so glad it was part of the trip. The water was clear, and the beaches were clean and quiet. We had a whole day to just relax, which felt well earned after a lot of moving around. The seafood on the island was also the best we had.
What surprised me was how different every city felt. Ho Chi Minh was nonstop energy, while Can Tho was quiet and full of boats. Hoian was cozy and pretty, and Halong Bay was just peaceful. The contrast made the tour feel fresh all the way through. Great pacing overall.
I can’t stop thinking about that evening boat ride in Hoian. The river was quiet, the sky slowly changed colors, and it felt like time slowed down. The basket boat ride was fun too, even if I almost fell in. It’s small things like that I’ll remember most, not just the big landmarks.
I loved how the tour mixed activities. One day we were kayaking in a quiet bay, the next we were trying noodles in a street market. I liked the mix of group tours and free time. Having a guide made everything smoother, but we also had space to do our own thing when we wanted.
I didn’t expect we’d get to see so many sides of Vietnam in just 14 days. The city, the countryside, the beaches, the food, all of it felt different at each stop. Hanoi was a highlight, especially the cyclo ride through the Old Quarter. It was noisy, a bit chaotic, but full of energy and color.
What I appreciated most was the balance. Some days were busy with sights and stories, others were slow and open. Like the beach day in Nha Trang where we didn’t have to do anything but enjoy the sea breeze. The sunset dinner on the boat felt peaceful.
The overnight cruise was something I’d been excited about, and it delivered. The scenery was calm and quiet, the food on board was great, and we even had a small cooking class. I spent most of my time on the top deck just taking it all in. The limestone islands are massive and strange in the best way.
We spent hours just walking through lantern-lit streets, trying local snacks, and watching people release candle boats into the river. The old houses were charming, and the pace was slower, perfect after the buzz of Ho Chi Minh City. I also liked that we had a full free day to explore however we wanted.
Visiting the Mekong Delta early in the morning was something I didn’t expect to love so much. Boats were full of fruit and locals were chatting and trading like it was nothing special. We had breakfast right on the boat, watching it all. It felt natural and different from anything I’ve seen before.
