Siem Reap is one of Cambodia’s most memorable places to visit. It's famous for its incredible ancient temples like Angkor Wat, Bayon, and Ta Prohm—these are some truly ancient wonders hidden deep in the jungle. But there’s more to the city than just its historic sites.
You can explore peaceful floating villages on Tonle Sap Lake, check out busy local markets, enjoy traditional Apsara dance performances, or try Khmer cooking classes that give you a real taste of Cambodian culture. Often included in Cambodia Itineraries, Siem Reap is a must-see stop in many well-planned Cambodia Tour Packages.
Whether you're interested in spiritual places, history, or local experiences, this city has something for everyone. Its flexible options and friendly guides make it perfect for first-time visitors or those returning for another visit.

Enjoy a hearty breakfast at your hotel this morning before heading out to visit some of Phnom Penh’s most important historical sites. First up is the Killing Fields at Choeung Ek, located about 15 km southwest of the city.
This site is the resting place of over 17,000 people who were brutally executed here during the Khmer Rouge regime, many of whom endured interrogations, torture, and deprivation at Toul Sleng Prison beforehand (1975–1979).
Afterward, we’ll visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, which was originally a high school before being turned into a prison by Pol Pot's security forces. It became the largest detention and torture center during the Khmer Rouge era.
You can grab lunch at a local restaurant on your own.
In the afternoon, head to the lively Russian Market (Psah Tuol Thom Pong), where you can browse through a variety of stalls selling antiques, silver and gold jewelry, gemstones, silk scarves, traditional fabrics called kramas, and handcrafted wood and stone carvings. You'll also find T-shirts, CDs, and plenty of souvenirs to take home.
Next, visit the stunning Royal Palace, built in the 19th century when the capital moved from Oudong to Phnom Penh. It has been the home of the Cambodian kings since 1866 and displays beautiful Khmer architecture and designs. Inside the palace grounds, you’ll find the Silver Pagoda, famous for its floor made of over 5,000 silver tiles.
For dinner, you can explore local eateries on your own.

One of my favorite things was actually trying Cambodian iced coffee at a tiny stand near Banteay Srei. Sweet, strong, and super refreshing after walking under the sun. I brought a bag of beans home.
I expected it to be just busy, but the Silver Pagoda was actually peaceful and gorgeous. The 4 days Siem Reap - Phnom Penh tour really showed both sides of the country.
I joined solo but met cool people along the way. The guide was super welcoming and even helped me find some local street food after the Royal Palace. I’ll remember that grilled banana forever.
Bayon was wild. All those faces watching you from every angle, so surreal. Then Ta Prohm made me feel like I was in Tomb Raider for real. I took like 200 pics just that day!
I really appreciated how smooth everything was. Airport transfers were on point, no delays. The Royal Palace in Phnom Penh was stunning in the late afternoon light. Totally worth staying two nights there.
Seeing Angkor Wat and then the Killing Fields in one trip made me think a lot. Cambodia has so much beauty but also so much pain in its past. It’s important to learn both. Our guide explained things in a really respectful and honest way.
The Russian Market was such a fun place to get souvenirs. I got a handmade silk scarf and some cool little carvings. Make sure to bring cash and be ready to haggle a bit!
Loved the short flight instead of a long car ride. Super efficient and gave us more time to explore. Banteay Srei was my favorite, it’s smaller but the carvings are crazy detailed. Felt like a hidden gem.
I liked how the tour combined both ancient and recent history. Angkor Wat was breathtaking in the morning light, but Tuol Sleng in Phnom Penh hit hard emotionally. The 4 days Siem Reap - Phnom Penh tour was full of contrast, and I’m glad I did both cities.

Sujin,
South KoreaThe whole trip felt smooth and well-organized. Angkor Wat was the dream spot, but I also enjoyed just walking around the Russian Market and chatting with local shopkeepers. Great mix of sightseeing and local life.
