After breakfast, depart to visit the vibrant Thong Khan Kham market. Vientiane has many markets, and this one is a great place to see what locals buy every day, from fresh foods to everyday items like household goods and jewelry, one of the most authentic places to visit in Vientiane. You will also notice dried red chilies, commonly used in Lao cuisine, especially for seasoning and marinating meat and fish. Continue to the impressive Patuxay Monument, often compared to a triumphal arch, then visit the well-known That Luang Stupa.
Continue exploring Vientiane with Wat Sisaket, the oldest temple still standing in the city, famous for its beautiful corridors, wall paintings, and countless Buddha images, an enriching cultural stop within a well-balanced Laos Holiday Package in 8 days. Next, visit Haw Prakeo, the former royal temple of the Lao monarchy, once home to the Emerald Buddha statue.

After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the station for a daytime train to Luang Prabang. The journey takes just under two hours, fitting smoothly into a thoughtfully planned Laos Holiday Package in 8 days.
On arrival, meet our guide and driver, then head straight out to Kuang Si Waterfall, the largest waterfall in the Luang Prabang area. It cascades over three levels before dropping around 50 meters into striking blue pools and flowing onward through the forest. Take an easy walk on the nature trail, enjoy a swim in the cool turquoise pools, and stop by the bear rescue and conservation center.
On the way back to Luang Prabang, we’ll make a short stop at Ban Na Uang, a Hmong resettlement village, where you can meet Hmong families who originally lived in the highlands.
Back in town, climb the 329 steps up Phousi Hill for sweeping views over the city and the Mekong River.

Starting from 09:00 AM, travel out of Luang Prabang to Ban Lae Sivilay village, a gentle shift from classic sightseeing into immersive Laos Nature Tours. I went solo and it still felt comfortable. The guide was friendly and easy to talk to Kuang Si was the big highlight, and the bear center was meaningful. Nong Khiaw was quiet, great for photos and relaxing. Ending back in Luang Prabang with Pak Ou caves was a nice finish.
My sister and I did the 3D2N Luang Prabang and Nong Khiaw stretch in this itinerary and loved it. Night market, Phousi sunset, then straight into river and mountain views, so good. Pak Ou caves were impressive, so many Buddha statues. Also liked the stop to see rice alcohol being made. Everything felt well-timed.
Did this with two friends and it was easy from start to finish. The train from Vientiane to Luang Prabang saved us from a long drive. Temples were cool, but the best part was river time in Nong Khiaw. We just sat there like wow, this place is beautiful. Perfect if you want a laid-back trip.
Went with my husband and we loved the mix of culture and nature. Phousi Hill views in Luang Prabang were so nice, especially at sunset. Kuang Si day was perfect, swim, walk, chill, repeat. The village visit with farming and music was sweet and felt genuine. Nong Khiaw was peaceful and we slept so well.
I’m picky with tours but this one was smooth. Vientiane market stop was fun, lots of snacks and random stuff. Buddha Park was strange in a cool way, lots of statues. Nong Khiaw was the surprise hit, the landscape is next level. Pak Ou caves were a great way to end.
Travelled with my boyfriend and we loved how calm Laos feels. Luang Prabang temples are gorgeous, especially early in the morning. The alms ceremony was beautiful, just keep quiet and be respectful. Kuang Si was busy but still totally worth it. Private driver saved us a lot of effort.
I did the 2D1N part in Nong Khiaw during this itinerary and it was my top memory. The Nam Ou river cruise at sunset was unreal. Villages felt simple and honest, not touristy. Coming back to Luang Prabang after that felt relaxing. Great mix with the earlier city days.

I like tours that run on time and this one did. Vientiane city tour was simple but interesting, That Luang and Patuxay were worth it. Luang Prabang temples were stunning, Wat Xieng Thong is a must. Nong Khiaw scenery was wild, mountains everywhere. Guide and driver were always punctual.

CanadaDid this as a couple trip and it hit the right spots. Vientiane was a soft start, then Luang Prabang had that cozy temple and café feel. Kuang Si pools were so pretty we didn’t wanna leave. Nong Khiaw was quiet and kind of magical, especially the sunset on the river. Overall, the 8-day route felt super worth it.
