Upon your arrival at Xieng Khouang Airport or the bus station, you'll be greeted and transferred to your hotel in Phonsavan, a town whose name translates to "hills of paradise." Phonsavan is the gateway to the renowned Plain of Jars, one of the top places to visit in Laos.
Begin your Laos Itinerary for 3 days with an orientation tour of the town, then delve into its rich history at the Xieng Khouang Provincial Museum, which showcases the local culture and heritage.

Whatever their purpose, the jars remain intact despite the heavy bombardment in the area during the Indochina War.
Spend time exploring the rolling green fields where over 300 stone jars are scattered across three main sites, from Site 2 to 3, and Site 1 at last. Along the way, you'll also have the chance to visit a small monastery in Ban Xieng Di, pass significant battlegrounds from the American War, and experience traditional life in Ban Napia, also known as the "War Spoon Village" for its unique handicrafts made from war remnants.

After breakfast, you will set out for a half-day tour of Muang Khoun as a part of Laos Itinerary 3 days, the ancient provincial capital of Xieng Khouang. Though not as well-known as other destinations, this area is steeped in history, from the ancient pagodas of the Phuan Kingdom to the bomb craters left behind from the secret war in the 1960s and many other places to visit in Xieng Khuang.
Upon arrival, we will make our way to visit Meuang Khoun Market to get an experience of local life, then you take Xieng Khuang Tours including the ruins of ancient Lanna-style pagodas like That Foun, That Chomphet, and Wat Phiawat, which houses the remains of a large seated Buddha despite the war damage.
After this historical exploration, it’s time to return to Phonsavan and transfer to the airport or bus station for your onward journey, marking the end of your Laos Culture and History Tours.
