Day 24 of the Best Indochina Tour 25 Days for Culture & Adventure, you will leave the busy streets of Ho Chi Minh City and travel to the lush Mekong Delta. Upon arrival in Cai Be, you will board a boat for a short visit to the town and its ancient church before continuing to Tan Phong Island. Here, you will take a rowing boat along narrow canals shaded by mangrove trees and enjoy the peaceful countryside. At a local garden, you will be treated to tropical fruits, hot tea, and traditional Southern folk music.
Afterwards, you will join a biking trip along quiet village paths, passing orchards, schools, churches, pagodas, and traditional houses. Along the way, you can stop to watch locals weaving dried water hyacinth into handicrafts such as baskets, bags, and hats. (If biking is not your preference, you can skip this activity.)
Back on the boat, you will cross the mighty Mekong River to reach An Binh Island. There, you will cruise along handmade canals to a traditional house and enjoy a local-style lunch. After lunch, you can walk through the village to see workshops making rice paper, coconut candy, and puffed rice, and enjoy a cup of hot tea with local sweets.
