Like other provinces in Central Vietnam, Quang Binh experiences a monsoon-tropical climate with two seasons, which are the rainy and dry seasons. The rainy season is from September to March next year and September to November, while the dry season begins in April and ends in August, with the highest temperatures being June, Jul, and August.

There are 8 daily trains to Dong Hoi from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh, and the distance from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh to Dong Hoi is about 600 km (375 miles) and 1250 km (750 miles) in turn. From Dong Hoi station, you can take taxis or rent motorbikes with prices ranging from 100,000 - 150,000 VND/day to move to the hotel and visit tourist attractions in Quang Binh.
Trekking in Quang Binh
Another transportation option is open sleeper buses. There are daily open sleeper bus stops in Dong Hoi, as the transport is cheap and quite comfortable. The only minus point is that the sleeping area is quite small, and the bus usually stops to pick up new customers.
If you want to save travelling time, you can book flight tickets to Dong Hoi domestic airport, which is 34km away from the centre of Dong Hoi City. There are flights from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh to Dong Hoi every day, so you can check out and book early for a good price.
