Today, you will learn about the heroic history and discover the unique places to visit in Ho Chi Minh City.
After breakfast at the hotel, the car and tour guide will take the visitors to the Cu Chi tunnel system - a unique man-made wonder and a living testament to the resilient will of the Vietnamese people. With a total length of nearly 250km, this network of tunnels was once the shelter, production, and fighting place of tens of thousands of revolutionary soldiers during the resistance war against the US.
Coming here on a tour of Explore Saigon and the Mekong Delta, you can explore the intact preserved tunnels and admire unique architectural works such as meeting rooms, kitchens, infirmaries, etc. built entirely by hand. I liked being on the water. Everything slowed down. Watching the sunset, eating dinner outside on the deck, and listening to the river at night felt calming. Explore Saigon and the Mekong Delta gave me a chance to disconnect and enjoy simple things.
The cathedral and post office in Ho Chi Minh City were beautiful. I enjoyed walking around that area with my camera. There was also a nice café nearby where we stopped for iced coffee. The guide gave us enough time to explore without rushing.
Waking up early on the boat and stepping out to see the river was a great way to start the day. I sat with a cup of tea and just watched the boats pass by. Later, we got to visit a family making coconut candy. It was sweet, both the candy and the experience.
The transfers, hotels, and meals were all well-organized. Our guide was friendly and gave helpful explanations without being too much. The rowboat ride through the canals was my favorite part. The water was calm and the trees overhead made it feel like a tunnel of green.
I liked the contrast between Ho Chi Minh City and the quiet countryside of Cai Be. We went from tall buildings and busy traffic to small boats and fruit trees. The cruise gave us space to relax and enjoy the river slowly.
Seeing boats selling pineapples, coffee, and even noodles was amazing. I had never seen a market like that before. It felt very real, not touristy. We also stopped to see how rice noodles are made, which was interesting and tasty.
Sleeping on the boat was a unique experience for me. The sound of the water and frogs at night made it feel very close to nature. We also enjoyed the cooking demo on the cruise. Explore Saigon and the Mekong Delta was a nice mix of sightseeing and relaxing.
The sunset from the deck of the cruise was stunning. I was traveling with my husband and we just sat in silence, watching the water turn orange. It was such a peaceful moment. The food on board was also fresh and flavorful.
The Cu Chi Tunnels were smaller than I expected, but that made them even more impressive. Crawling through just a short section made me realize how difficult it must have been. My teenage son loved this part of the trip and took so many photos. It was a good way to start the journey.
