The area is covered mostly by freshwater swamp forest and is home to many rare waterbirds, especially during the dry season – so it becomes one of the best places for birdwatching from Siem Reap.

We then will start the day exploring Chau Doc by embarking on small boats and cruise along Bassac Canal to visit Chau Doc floating market. See the local people purchasing and selling their agricultural products and other necessary things in daily life – everything happens on the river. This will be an interesting and new experience for you.
Afterwards, we disembark and take a van transfer to Long Son Pagoda which is located on the top of Sam Mountain. The pagoda is considered one of the holiest places in Chau Doc with a beautiful architectural style and large campus. We then will start the day exploring Chau Doc by embarking on small boats and cruise along Bassac Canal to visit Chau Doc floating market. Afterwards, we disembark and take a van transfer to Long Son Pagoda which is located on the top of Sam Mountain. Alternatively, you can choose to go to the small town of Sa Dec and visit a bustling local market. Then, explore the house of the famous French writer’s lover - Mr. Huynh Thuy Le. This place became a famous name among those who love Indochina land through films and novels.
Afterwards, continue onto Cai Be with our sampan through the small canals. This will be a fascinating way to explore the region with the tiny local sampan and watch the scenery in a very close distance.
After a lovely ride, disembark the sampan and take a walk or bike ride through traditional houses. Then, we can make a stop at a local family to get a glimpse of the local life.

Enjoying breakfast and a cup of morning coffee will be a great time on board. We then will start the day exploring Chau Doc by embarking on small boats and cruise along Bassac Canal to visit Chau Doc floating market. See the local people purchasing and selling their agricultural products and other necessary things in daily life – everything happens on the river. This will be an interesting and new experience for you.
Afterwards, we disembark and take a van transfer to Long Son Pagoda which is located on the top of Sam Mountain. The pagoda is considered one of the holiest places in Chau Doc with a beautiful architectural style and large campus. From the pagoda, you can enjoy the panoramic views over the valley with lush gardens, vast rice fields and small villages.
On the way return, you will pass by a colorful morning market. Or you can also enjoy a bike ride on Long Khanh Island or a rickshaw ride to visit Tan Chau Market to enjoy some shopping.

After breakfast and relaxing time, we will spend the day to explore Cambodia by visiting some local rustic villages.
Today you have a great chance to witness skillful Khmer artisans making krama at Koh Oknha Tey. Krama is their unique item - a silk scarf loved by locals and a treasured cultural asset that dates back from the Angkor period. You can also buy some Krama and bring home as a souvenir. You can see lots of Cambodian wearing Krama as it can be used in many different ways – covering the face, for decorative purposes, and even used as a hammock for children.
For those who wish to have more outdoor activities, grab your bicycle and paddle along the river bank passing through Buddhist temples and traditional houses as well as peaceful landscape.
After lunch, board Aqua Mekong’s private fleet of launch boats and cruise to the tamarind trees of Preah Prosop village. It is a remote village little changed over several lifetimes and it’s also home to a startlingly colorful Buddhist temple. Enjoy the tranquil settings then get back the boat.

After relaxing, we visit Kampong Chhnang to get a true glimpse into the Khmer local life. Kampong Chhnang in Khmer means "port of pottery" or "pottery harbor", 91km from Phnom Penh. Kampong Chhnang is in the alluvial plain of central Cambodia and is drained by the Tonle Sap, a tributary of the Mekong river. It’s a favorite stop-over for those who trvel from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap by land and vice versa.
This serene village offers you a chance to meet traditional potters and palm-sugar producers. You can watch them practicing age-old craftsmanship and techniques dating back to the 6th century that are still highly relevant and valuable today.
Enjoy the exotic landscape of rice fields and get deep into the shadow of palm trees along the way. Afterwards, you will cruise across the river and disembark to take an ox cart ride along the river banks of Tonle Sap. We pass through lacquered wooden houses and may encounter the rustic sights of local life.
